Long Island / NYC Photographer- I’m Back!

I’ve been thinking about getting back to blogging for months and I just keep making excuses. But here I am! I want to start using my blog and other social media platforms as more than just an outlet for photography. So I’ll be including some random personal posts here and there. I’d like to help other women in some way or another. I’m a very open person, so maybe just by sharing, I can help anyone going through similar life/parenting experiences.

It’s been 2 years since separating from my husband. If  you missed that blog post you can click here.  I’ve filled most of that time with uplifting books, podcasts, my girls, lots of coffee, and good friends. I’ve gone from weekly therapy appointments to once every few months and have also taken myself off of Lexapro this past Summer. I’ve learned a lot about who I am and who I want to surround myself with.

My girls are now in 1st and 4th grade and are doing well. My little one just finished the Banana Splits program at her school for children of divorced/separated parents and my oldest wanted nothing to do with it! It’s amazing how different they are from each other. Talia, my older one recently said, ” I don’t know how you were ever married to Abba (Dad), you are total opposites”.  She probably meant that as an insult b/c she is a Daddy’s girl, but it made me laugh. We’ve definitely had our ups and downs over the past 2 years. As they say in therapy, this is our “new normal” and I can see now that it was for the best. I can go on and on about this stuff but I’ll save some for future posts. If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out. I’d be more than happy to help anyone else going through shit, any way I can.

On the photography end of things, I’ve recently created a free guide for parent’s on how to have a more successful, less stressful family photo session! I’d love to hear your thoughts. You can get yours here:

FREE GUIDE

I also posted about Mommy & Me mini sessions this week! They will take place on May 4th. I think there is 1 evening slot left and 3 morning slots still open. If you’ve been debating a session let’s make it happen!! click here to book. I’m currently only offering mini sessions on specific dates, so the next day of minis probably won’t be until the end of Summer/early Fall.

Lastly, I am also looking for some Moms to photograph that fill these requirements:

-Have been through some sort of hell ( family sickness/cancer, loss of loved ones, miscarriages, divorce, you name it) and have come out fighting.

-Would appreciate photos of themselves with their families.

-Are ok with me posting the photos and talking a little about their experiences on social media.

These sessions would be free of charge.  If this is you or you know someone that fits these requirements please reach out!! shira@shirazphotography.com

I’m really looking forward to this Spring and Summer! Besides all the awesome families I get to photograph, my girls birthdays are coming up in May, my 40th is the following month, Talia will be starting sleep away camp for her first time, and my niece will be arriving around the same time!! 🙂
